Hello everyone I want to discuss being homeless in Kentucky and the Safer Kentucky Act that was passed in April of this year. According to statistics homelessness and poverty affects every community in Kentucky. Before the new Safer Kentucky Act was passed there were several of the homeless and people who work with the homeless who spoke against the Safer Kentucky Act. I want to summarize what this new law states and it’s targeting the homeless.

(1) Camping is not allowed on public or private property.

(2) Homeowners can use physical or deadly force if they think that a homeless person means harm to them, or steal from them,or commit arson on their land

(3) The homeless can be fined $250 or thrown in jail just for being homeless.

I’m currently homeless and I am trying to utilize resources and starting side hustles with my free government phone. I am trying to show everyone that some of the homeless work with what is in front of them in order to climb out of their circumstance as best as they can and educate themselves on different resources and ideas on what can be done to help change things for the better. I’m sure everyone can agree that if you want to change your status of being homeless you can just by trying to find what is out there.

I started this blog, wrote down my podcast introduction and downloaded Spotify, I’m also working on making a craft website to sell my crafts and most of my materials come from dumpster dive finds.

I have a Facebook page, a YouTube channel,Tik Toc and I post pictures and videos that I make from my filmmaker app. I utilized all of the free offers and working my way to monetize each side hustle. Everyone deserves the chance and proper backing to get themselves back on their feet.

Criminalizing the homeless is not the answer to helping them because there are different circumstances for everyone. People in the homeless community are not all the same. The homeless are stereotyped by their community and being judged by others.I am attempting to show that’s not the case. If the Safer Kentucky Act as stated by the officials was to protect the community then if a member of the housed became homeless they would no longer be protected by their piers.

The average salary and cost of living do not equal out and most are one disaster away from being homeless. I would suggest that communities should step up and learn more about their homeless and learn how they may be able to help. If you or someone you love were to become homeless would you help or turn away? Valuable insights can be learned by getting involved and creating better solutions.

I hope everyone will comment and let their voices be heard and let your community homeless know that they are behind them to support change. Does everyone want the next generation to believe that if they become homeless their state officials will fine or jail them for being in a bad situation? My thoughts are it’s not wrong to be poverty striken or homeless.I hope everyone will take this seriously and protest our state government who pushed to pass this law. People have the right to be poor and homeless and not be fined or jailed. Do you want your children believing that it’s wrong to be homeless? Comments are needed from everyone so that it will encourage change for every generation to come. Subscribe to Creative tent WordPress.com and keep reading.
